Hurricanes Helene and John have devastated entire regions of the Southern U.S. and Western Mexico. Now, Hurricane Milton is set to hit many of the same areas with more destruction. There is SO much urgent need, and Hope Force is strategizing our response with our Reservists on the front lines.
We need your help! October is a critical month to support hurricane survivors and there are several ways to get involved.
In this month's newsletter, you'll find:
Updates on our work saving homes in hurricane-impacted areas
The power of your donations and prayers
Info on joining the Hope Force Reservist Week in Seminole, Oklahoma
Prayer requests during this hurricane season
A crucial part of deploying with Hope Force as a Reservist is self-evaluation:
Can I get away from work at a moment’s notice?
Is my family in a good spot for me to be away right now?
Am I in a good spot, spiritually, emotionally, and physically, to deploy?
These are hard questions, but Hope Force wants to help you answer them. We are planning a Reservist Week in Seminole, Oklahoma from November 10 - 16, 2024, and we want you there!
This week provides a chance for Reservists to get together outside the stress of a disaster deployment. The schedule is much more relaxed and lets the team interact and develop relationships within the Hope Force family.
If you've never deployed to Seminole, this also provides a chance to see a beautiful part of Central Oklahoma, learn how Hope Force got here, and about our long-term recovery mission to serve those in Seminole. Watch our video invitation to Reservists below!
Our goals for this special week are to:
Have some time with you and get the future team house ready for operation.
Engage with our Reservists on a deeper and more personal level.
In the wake of 2 hurricanes and 1 more on the way,
Hope Force needs help caring for survivors now more than ever!
The stories, videos, and images coming out of towns like Crystal River, FL and Asheville, NC are heart-wrenching. Hundreds of precious lives lost, more missing, and thousands of homes and businesses gone, never to be seen again.
Hope Force Reservists are on the ground mucking out homes, tarping roofs, and ministering to those who have lost everything. The clean up after this hurricane season will take months, if not years, and we need your help!
HOW TO HELP
1. GO ➡️ The #1 resource that Hope Force needs right now is more helping hands! If you're already a trained Hope Force Reservist, PLEASE sign up to deploy and help in one of our response areas. If you're not trained, sign up for our online Reservist training so you can prepare to deploy with us.
2. GIVE ❤️ Please consider making a gift to Hope Force's efforts! With our Reservist team split up in several impacted areas right now, we need ongoing support from people back home to provide us with:
Construction materials to tarp roofs
Supplies to muck out flooded homes
Help covering operational costs such as food and fuel to support our teams and vehicles
3. PRAY 🙏 The headlines about these hurricanes are heartbreaking and daunting. But we know that Jesus loves each survivor even more than we do, and He is the one who can make the impossible, possible! Please join us in prayer and asking the Lord for:
Comfort for all who have lost loved ones, homes, and their community
For all those still missing to be found alive and safe
For wisdom for all disaster responders to make the greatest impact and save the most lives
For provision and guidance for Hope Force as we continue serving hurricane survivors in the months to come
Friend, we cannot do this tremendous work without you. We always say it is a "terrible privilege" to enter into these hurting communities, but our hearts won't let us do anything else. Thank you for being on the journey with us!
